This seven-stage project involved the reconstruction of Fish Hatchery Road from Greenway Cross to Petra Plaza with widening and raising structure B-13-83 over the beltline. The raising and redecking of the bridge was performed in stages to accommodate traffic, and nighttime lane closures were required. The project also involved the relocation of Damon Road, city water main, storm sewer, and several special manholes. Coordination was required with four electrical systems: DOT Lighting, DOT ITS, City Traffic Signals, and City Interconnect.
The small footprint and expedited schedule of this 500-bid item project made staging layout and coordination crucial. The staff engineered an additional stage during the winter months for bridge construction to take place without major impacts to traffic which aided in timely completion of the project.
